As many of you know, my friend Christopher had a bone marrow transplant - exactly a year ago this weekend actually. To prepare for the transplant he had to undergo massive chemotherapy, which resulted in the loss of his hair. He is now healthy and back at work, and, his hair has regrown thicker, darker and curlier than ever. To celebrate his good health, and to bring awareness to the support provided to blood-cancer patients, Chris went on a fund-raising binge to give to the Luekemia Foundation in Australia, offering up his curly-locks for a target of $5,600 - $100 bucks for every year of life. This weekend was the Big Shave (Saturday night). He not only made his target - he exceeded it. We're still counting cash, but it looks like he raised over $6,100.
Not only that - he threw one heck of a party, providing a venue for about nine others to shave, dozens
to get their hair coloured (note Joyce's lovely pink and purple and blue tresses). And I'm not even going to talk about the men whom came forward to have their legs, backs and chests waxed for bucks. A remarkable night and lot of laughs. On Sunday we celebrated Chris's new birthday a little more quietly with Joyce, Chris, Gene, Jo, and friends from Brisbane - Kathryn and Bev. What a year Chris - you look great (with and without hair) and you are going to continue to get ever-better and stronger. May a pair of electric clippers be the closest shave you ever have again.

That's great! I was talking with a colleague today that spent 6 months working in Australia. From talking with him and reading your blog, I am convinced that I need to move there! How about we all move there?!
It seems to be the best place on earth!
